A lot of people struggle with time management, especially in the workplace. With so many important tasks to complete and strict deadlines to meet, time can get away from you fairly quickly. Before you know it, you are struggling to finish everything before the work day is done. Luckily, a new time management technique has been introduced. Though it may seem simple, the Pomodoro Technique can make a huge difference to the way that you manage your time.
How Does the Pomodoro Technique Work?
If you haven’t heard of the Pomodoro Technique before, you are probably wondering what it is and how it works. The Pomodoro Technique is an effective way to better manage time and it is comprised of six simple steps.
If there has been a task that you have been putting off for a while, try to complete it using the Pomodoro Technique. It works well for tasks that require your full attention, but hasn’t yet been completed.
The Pomodoro Technique works by dedicating 25 minutes to a specific task. Set a timer and ensure that there are no interuptions.
Dedicate the full 25 minutes to the one individual task, completely immersing yourself in it. Continue to work hard until the full 25 minutes is up.
When the first 25 minutes of the Pomodoro Technique is up, put a checkmark on your paper. This will signify that you have completed one Pomodoro for the task.
Once you have finished the first Pomodoro, take a break. You could grab a coffee, take a short walk, check your social media accounts or chat to friends.
After you have dedicated for rounds of the Pomodoro Technique to a task, you can reward yourself with a longer break of around 20 to 30 minutes. This will give your brain a break from work and concentration.
